Theanine with coffee: what does two to one actually mean, and when does timing matter? Start with the label and the coffee you already drink. Caffeine affects wakefulness. Theanine has been studied with it in attention tasks, but adding theanine does not remove the caffeine or replace sleep. Two to one means twice as much theanine as caffeine by weight. The same ratio can describe very different amounts. It explains proportions, not a personal dose. For timing, assume one hundred milligrams and a six hour half-life. The model leaves fifty after six hours and twenty-five after twelve. Real elimination varies; the graph is not a blood measurement. Count coffee, tea, energy drinks and supplements together. Use the actual label where available, and mark an unknown drink as unknown rather than inventing precision. Check the drink time against bedtime. Sleep guidance notes caffeine can affect you for hours. A late coffee still counts when its label also mentions calmness or focus.
